UC CalFresh Adds 'Healthy Living'

UC CalFresh Healthy Living supports healthy, active and nourished lifestyles by teaching about good nutrition, encouraging physical activity, and partnering with local schools and agencies to establish policy, system and environments that make the healthy choice the easy choice. Formerly known as the UC CalFresh Nutrition Education Program, UC CalFresh Healthy Living facilitates behaviorally focused, evidence-based, nutrition and physical activity interventions. The program reaches out to low-income residents through classroom lessons, school gardens, fruit and vegetable tastings, safe routes to school, and school wellness policies.
The recent name change for the statewide CalFresh Healthy Living Program better represents the program’s work in establishing environments that encourage healthy eating and physical activity and more closely identifies it with the CalFresh Food, CalFresh Employment & Training, and CalFresh Disaster Response.
