4-H Community Service Day

San Mateo County 4-H Day of Community Service

Just before the COVID-19 shelter in place order was implemented, our community clubs and county ambassadors participated in our first annual 4-H Day of Community Service on March 7, 2020.

We had a great turn out and were able to support many community organizations: Help One Child, Center For Independent Living, UCSF Pediatric Oncology Unit, Ronald McDonald Houses Palo Alto and Valley Medical Center, LifeMoves, Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, Shoebox Project for Women, San Mateo Park School Food Pantry, and Second Harvest Food Bank. The donated items that were made/collected were:

  • Handmade braided cat toys for the SPCA
  • Decorated shoe boxes and assembled kits for women’s shelters
  • Handmade blankets for pediatric cancer patients
  • Assembled bags for children and youth impacted by foster care
  • Assembled kits for the homeless
  • Handmade zipper pulls for the disabled
  • Supported and collected food items for the San Mateo Park School pantry
  • Handmade cards
