2021 Scholarship I Winners
Our San Mateo County 4-H Club Council Scholarship I awarded a total of $10,900 to our graduating high school seniors. The awards are based on letters of recommendation, 4-H experience, leadership, and an interview. The scholarship funds come from annual contributions from the Peter and Paula Uccelli Foundation (Pete's Harbor), the Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County Foundation, and the Bob and Patricia Dean Memorial fund. Congratulations to our applicants and winners!

Throughout my 10 years in the Belmont 4-H Club, I have grown from being a shy little kid to a strong and independent young woman. It all started when I first signed up for the Presentation Project in my second year of 4-H. I was so scared and nervous, but in the long run, the Presentation Project led me to become confident enough to enter leadership roles such as Secretary and President of the Belmont 4-H Club as well as the Secretary for the 4-H San Mateo County Council. I was able to travel to Washington DC with 4-H'ers from all over the country where we participated in a Youth Leadership Summit which gave me a broader view of the people and places around me. I'm so grateful to have had 4-H in my life and I'm looking forward to taking all that I've learned with me as I start college in the fall! – Enika

I spent ten years in 4-H, and during that time I learned how to cook, work on my public speaking skills, and gained experience in leading projects. It's easy to get involved in 4-H, there are a wide variety of projects to join, and you can always start your own if you feel the need. Through 4-H I was able to gain experience keeping track of club finances as treasurer while also learning how to teach others as teen leader of the International Foods project. 4-H has taught me so much, and I hope that anyone thinking of joining gives it a shot. -- Ettan
