Coastal Native Plant Education Event

Description: Interested in planting native plants in your home garden? Join us for a community education event focusing on the benefits of growing natives in your own backyard. UC Master Gardener native plant experts will discuss California natives that thrive on the mid-peninsula coast, along with best practices for planting and caring for your plants. Pacifica Gardens’ Native Plant Nursery managers will demonstrate techniques for propagating native plants. You also will have an opportunity to tour the native plant nursery and the garden.

UC Master Gardener Presenters

  • Cathrin Callas: Cathrin joined the UC Master Gardener program in 2022 after retiring from a career in engineering. A California native, her life-long love of flowering plants includes a particular interest in California native plants. She currently lives and gardens in San Carlos.
  • Carolyn Dorsch: Carolyn has always had a deep admiration and affinity for all plants, marveling at their incredible ability to survive and thrive in a myriad of conditions. She enjoys seeing plants in their natural habitat, in all seasons, and applies her knowledge of how California natives grow in the wild in order to cultivate them in the garden.
