Description: Explore the world of plant pruning. Learn about the theory, tools and techniques. Then see a pruning demonstration followed by the opportunity to prune several plants in the library's nearby pollinator garden. You will have ample time for questions as well as experience the why and how of pruning through hands-on, guided pruning.

UC Master Gardener Presenters:

  • Cathrin Callas: Cathrin joined the UC Master Gardener program in 2022 after retiring from a career in engineering. A California native, her life-long love of flowering plants includes a particular interest in California native plants. She currently lives and gardens in San Carlos.
  • Eloise Maki: A Master Gardener since 2020, Eloise specializes in California native plants. In addition, she is on the "Plant Notes" team, writing and editing educational materials that feature information on how to grow and maintain a single plant or plant family.
  • Melissa Mason: A Master Gardener since 2015, Melissa specializes in California native plants. In 2019 she initiated and led the San Carlos Native Plant Habitat Garden Project, where Master Gardeners planted more than 80 species of native plants in an 8000 sq ft park area in San Carlos.
