Biography
Mia Sasaki is grateful to be a part of the UCCE San Mateo/San Francisco team as a CES 2. Mia's first years as an educator were with Teach for America, serving as a teacher at an inner-city school in Aurora, Colorado. She then spent some time in San Mateo county working at a farming nonprofit, both as the Edible Educator and later the program manager. After finishing graduate studies in International Education Development at University of Pennsylvania, Mia lived in Southeast Asia for about 8 years, overseeing education programs and teaching in higher education. She is passionate about students, gardens, and is deeply interested in ethnoecology. Whether at work or at play, Mia’s an avid gardener, novice angler, and aspiring mushroom hunter. You can reach Mia at miasasaki@ucanr.edu.
