4-H Camp Staff Youth Leadership
After not having 4-H summer camp since 2019, we were so excited to have our 4-H’ers at camp (July 17-July 22). The 4-H Summer Camp embodies youth development and hands on learning. It has been incredible to see youth start as young campers who are at first shy, eventually growing through the program to be on the camp volunteer staff; some even getting the opportunity to serve as our Youth Camp Director. There are various levels of youth staff leadership: Managers (Cabin Leaders), Assistant Directors and Directors. The youth apply for these camp positions when they reach high school age. At camp, there are a series of activities, where campers decide what programs, they want to participate in such as swimming, archery, rock wall, canoes or to simply hanging out and being creative with arts & crafts.
4-H Camp Staff Volunteers
Many campers make lifelong friendships through this program and continue to help with the 4-H camp as adult chaperones and advisors to the youth camp staff. We are incredibly grateful to our devoted volunteers who made camp possible this year. Here is a what former 4-H camper and current 4-H Camp Co-Director, Allan Bruce, has to say about 4-H Camp, “I honestly believe that this camp builds leaders across the board and enhances a level of confidence for life ahead. It has also shaped me in my professional career being in the recreation field.”
